Day 16: Gaming Goals

16 Aug

Today was a productive day.

I spent the early morning with a good workout and an some ARK: Survival Evolved. I finally learned how to make tranquilizer arrows, and now I’m taming dinos left and right. After that, I met up with a couple buddies for our weekly meeting to work on our 2D Action-RPG platformer. Unity is pretty darn cool. We got a basic template with movement and attacks built in and feeling nice. I was pleasantly surprised at my friend’s ability to get it to this stage. With some solid level design, story flow, and some unique twists to some game mechanics, this might turn into a pretty fun game. The rest of the day was spent getting my room re-organized, while playing some ARK in between. I’m really happy with how it’s layed out now.

Now that I have some RL goals in place, I need to address my gaming goals.

I’m having a surprisingly good time playing ARK. This will probably be my main social game for now. I do want to get back into WildStar eventually, but it’ll probably be on a very, very casual level. I’m also contemplating soloing WoW sometime for the story content. That’s for the future, though. I think I may play a match of Heroes of the Storm once every couple of days as well.

On Steam, my current games I want to play through are Overlord and The Longest Journey. Overlord is a very jump-in, jump-out kind of game, so I will probably keep playing it that way. The Longest Journey, however, is very lengthy, very wordy, and takes a high amount of concentration. I may play with a walkthrough so I don’t spend forever wandering each area, making sure I clicked on everything.

Two games which are on my hard drive, but not priorities are Half-Life 2: Episode 1/2, and Shadow Warrior.

Alan Wake, Farenheit: Indigo Prophecy, and System Shock 2 are all partially played, but they are on the backburner for now. Why? Because I’m a scaredy-cat.

Valkyria Chronicles, Transistor, and Saint’s Row 3 are ones I may not finish. They all had a great draw at the start, but I lost interest in them for different reasons.

Bottom line:

Regular games: ARK / Overlord / The Longest Journey

When the mood strikes: Heroes of the Storm, Half Life 2: Episodes 1/2, Shadow Warrior, Rayman Legends

And Clicker Heroes.

Onward, to Day 17!
